TOURNAMENT RULES:

  • The XL Halo 3 4v4 tournament will use the Team Slayer, Capture the Flag, Team Ball and Team King gametypes only.
  • The tournament will follow a double elimination format, whereby a loss will demote your team to the losers bracket. A further loss in the losers bracket will result in your teams' elimination from the tournament.
  • Fixtures will consist of a best of 3 map series until the Winners Bracket Quarter Finals and Loser Bracket 6, whereby they become a best out of 5 map series.
  • Best of 3 match series will consist of 2 x Team Slayers and 1 x Team King (order: TS, Obj, TS).
  • Best of 5 match series will consist of 2 Team Slayer and 3 x CTF/Oddball/Team King games (order: Obj, TS, Obj, Obj, TS).
  • Split screen will be used in round 1 and 2 of both Winners and Losers Bracket.
  • Teams will be seeded based on performance at the previous MatchBox360 XL events. Any players who did attend will be seeded on performance in the Halo 3 FFA.
  • The higher seeded team must choose to act as the higher or lower seed for the purpose of host choice. Hosting choices must be decided with the referee before the series is played.
  • In a best of 3 game series, the lower seeded team will choose 1 map to host, and the higher seeded team will host the other 2 maps.
  • In a best of 5 game series, the higher seeded team will choose 1 map to host and the lower seeded team will choose 2 maps to host. The higher seeded team will host the 2 remaining games.
  • If a Team Slayer, Team King, or Team Oddball Game should tie, the Game must be replayed. The game must be replayed straight after the tie, not later in the series.
  • Capture the Flag games will have an initial time limit of 30 minutes. If after 15 minutes one team is winning and their flag is in the starting position then the game is over. If the score is tied after 15 minutes, the game must continue and the next team to score a point will win the game (sudden death). If the 30 minute time limit is reached without a winner, the game must be replayed in sudden death.
  • In the event of teams having previously met in the competition the matches will expand to a best of 7, with the team who won going into the series retaining their previous wins (e.g. a team beat another by 2-0 they will take a 2-0 lead the second time they meet). If teams previously met in a 5 game series then the matches will expand to a best of 11.
  • If teams in a best of 11 series are scheduled to play a gametype they have already played against each other, then another gametype will be chosen by XL Halo 3 admin.
  • If the teams meeting in the final have not yet played each other and the team coming from the losers bracket wins the game, then the Winners Bracket Final maps will be played to determine the result of the game since both teams would have only lost once. The team without a loss will choose to have higher seed host privileges for the Finals or Winners Bracket Finals set of maps prior to the start of the game.
  • It is the responsibility of both team captains to ensure the result is reported correctly to the Matchbox360 XL Halo 3 admin.
  • Team rosters with a seed must have a complete roster by Sunday 20th July at midnight (the time & date the MB360 ticket office closes). Teams who make roster changes after that will lose their seed.
  • You may register 1 x Coach for your team prior to the start of the tournament.
  • All fixtures will be played using the following settings:
